Dental caries is a prevalent condition, often requiring time-intensive analysis of dental images for diagnosis. AI systems, particularly those using machine learning, can quickly analyze these images and detect signs of caries.

In dentistry, artificial intelligence can be used for dental imaging, diagnosis and treatment planning in orthodontics, prosthodontics, periodontics, endodontics, oral pathology, and also in forensic dentistry for dental profiling.

In recent years, many CBCT studies have used AI, ML, and DL methods. Preparing the data in a way that the AI algorithm can use it effectively is known as data pre- processing, and it is a crucial step in the AI process for CBCT data.

AI algorithms can analyze medical images (e.g., X-rays, MRIs, ultrasounds, CT scans, and DXAs) and assist healthcare providers in identifying and diagnosing diseases more accurately and quickly.
